About the Marian Athletic Club
The Marian Athletic Club (MAC) was founded in 1997 to “develop to the development of mature, competent and caring Christian women through participation in organized sports.” To accomplish this objective, the club has the following objectives:
- Support the mission of the school and the athletic department.
- Raise funds to enhance Marian High School athletic programs.
- Provide volunteer support to the athletic department.
- Promote good sportsmanship and further meaningful relationships in the high school sports community.
- Maintain high standards of achievement at all levels of the athletic program.
- Encourage the use of sport as an educational vehicle and create a spirit of community based on family values.
MEMBERSHIP
MAC membership is open to parents and guardians of current and past Marian student-athletes.
GOVERNANCE
MAC operations are controlled by the executive board that includes the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer & Depositing Treasurer.
Additionally, there may be one or more representatives, approved by the athletic director, to the MAC from each varsity sport at Marian. The representatives should be parents of active student-athletes and shall report at regular meetings.
FUNDING
In general, there are two main funds available for each sport that actively participates in MAC fundraising activities:
- MAC General Account (items used directly for the sport and retained by the school)*
- Concession/Volunteer Account (used at the discretion of the sport with conditions)
*Up to 40% of the sport funds in the sport general account may be transferred to the sport Concession/Volunteer account once per school year (July 1 – June 30).
