Shorthanded Mustangs fall to Saline at Maurer Invite

CANTON - The #2-ranked (Division 3) Marian varsity swim team traveled to Salem High School for the Rock Maurer Invitational Saturday.
Saline won in impressive fashion with 361 points while the host Rocks were 2nd (211). Canton finished third (186), Marian was fourth (174) and 4-time KLAA Champ Northville rounded out the field with 159 points.
Sophomore Lena McKenney was Marian's top-scorer for the meet, finishing first in the 50yd freestyle (26.15) and third in the 200yd freestyle (2:06.04). Freshman Marianna Becharas had the second-highest point total for Marian, winning the 200yd IM (2:26.63) and taking fourth in the 100yd breaststroke (1:16.35).
The Mustangs will try their luck at the Oakland County Championships this weekend at Clarkston High School. The diving championship is Friday and swimming prelims and finals will take place Saturday at Noon.
